You can add class and sophistication to any
bedroom by simply adding a canopy bed.
While these beds look expensive and challenging to install, with a
little research and creativity you can have your own beautiful canopy
bed, even on a limited budget.
You do not have to spend a lot of money in order to experience the
luxury of a canopy bed. You can create a canopy effect on the bed you
currently own by installing curtain rods on each end of the bed and
draping them with soft fabrics. Another option is to suspend a curtain
rod from the ceiling at each end of the bed and drape them with long
panels of fabric that reach all the way to the floor. During the day you
can tie these panels back with either some ribbon or a drapery tieback.
Another great option for creating a canopy is to purchase a piece of
three quarter inch plywood and cut it in a half circle. Fabric panels
can be placed around the top edges of the plywood and then the plywood
can be attached directly to the ceiling or hand down with the use of L
brackets.
If all those ideas sound a little too labor intensive, what about
installing a metal or wooden ring above the very center of your bed? You
can then drape fabric panels all the way to the floor down each side of
the bed. Be sure that your ring is firmly attached to the ceiling to
prevent your entire canopy from falling down on you in the middle of the
night.
There are just a few ideas for creating the canopy effect without
actually purchasing an expensive canopy bed. Just use your imagination
and you are sure to come up with even more ideas for creating just the
look you want.
